Dr Anja McConnachie
DClinPsy, PhD, MSc, BSc (Hons), Registered Clinical Psychologist (HCPC)
Dr Anja McConnachie is a Clinical Psychologist with compassion at the heart of her therapeutic approach. She brings a warm, empathic, and non-judgemental presence to her work, creating a safe space where healing and meaningful change can unfold.

Therapeutic Approach:
Dr Anja believes that therapy begins with building a genuine, trusting relationship. From this foundation, she works collaboratively alongside clients to help them make sense of their experiences and take courageous steps toward what matters most to them. Her practice is grounded in respect for every aspect of identity, and she takes time to understand each person as an individual, tailoring her approach to their unique strengths and challenges.
Dr Anja draws on a range of evidence-based approaches including Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and mindfulness-based approaches. Her work is firmly trauma-informed, shaped by experiences supporting individuals who have lived through developmental and complex trauma.
With a neurodiversity-affirming and strengths-based approach, Dr Anja has extensive experience working with autistic individuals, ADHDers, and people with Tourette's. As a Paediatric Clinical Psychologist, she has supported young people with neurodevelopmental differences as well as those living with persistent physical symptoms such as chronic fatigue and pain.
Dr Anja is passionate about LGBTQIA+ affirming practice. Her work is inclusive, poly/non-monogamous friendly, and celebrates diversity in all its forms. She has a strong research background in LGBTQ+ family formations, including her PhD from the University of Cambridge examining families headed by same-sex parents, and clinical experience supporting trans, non-binary, and LGBTQIA+ individuals across the lifespan.
Dr Anja also maintains an active interest in the therapeutic applications of psychedelics and psychedelic integration work, staying current with emerging research in this evolving field.
