Dr Emil Thornton
DClinPsy, MSc, BA (Hons), Registered Clinical Psychologist (HCPC)
Dr Emil Thornton is a Clinical Psychologist with specialist experience in working with neurodivergent individuals.
Emil brings a warm, collaborative, and values-led approach to his work, grounded in person-centred and neurodiversity-affirming principles.

Therapeutic Approach:
Emil draws on a range of evidence-based approaches including cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), narrative therapy, systemic approaches, and psychoanalytic models. He is committed to offering inclusive and accessible care, integrating trauma-informed and culturally sensitive practice. Emil’s clinical style is underpinned by curiosity, compassion, and a commitment to co-creating meaningful and empowering therapeutic spaces.

With a strong focus on neurodiversity-affirming practice, Emil supports autistic people, ADHDers, and other neurodivergent individuals in ways that recognise and respect diverse cognitive and sensory profiles.
Therapy is collaborative and tailored, often focusing on identity, self-understanding, managing overwhelm and burnout, and unmasking in safe and supported ways. Emil also works thoughtfully with the emotional impact of late or missed diagnoses, internalised ableism, and the effects of navigating systems that may not be built with neurodivergent people in mind.

Emil has an interest in supporting clients around altered states of consciousness, including psychedelic experiences, from a harm reduction perspective. He offers a reflective and grounding space to explore the meaning of these experiences - whether they’ve been expansive, unsettling, or somewhere in between. This might include preparation ahead of a planned experience, or integration support afterwards to help make sense of what’s arisen and how it fits into a broader story of self and wellbeing.
