Dr Jo Jennison
DClinPsy, Registered Clinical Psychologist (HCPC)
Dr. Jo Jennison is a Consultant Clinical Psychologist with over 25 years of experience supporting adults. She brings a wealth of expertise from her extensive work within NHS Mental Health Services, where she has held various leadership roles including as Consultant Psychological Lead for Neurodivergence within Communities.
Jo's approach is deeply rooted in compassion and understanding, recognising that everyone's journey with mental health and neurodivergence is unique. She believes in creating a safe, non-judgmental space where clients can explore their experiences and develop greater self-understanding and acceptance.

Therapeutic Approach:
Jo draws from an integrative toolkit of evidence-based approaches including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT), brief psychodynamic therapy, and IFS-informed approaches. She is committed to offering trauma-informed and neurodiversity-affirming care that recognises and respects diverse cognitive and sensory profiles. Jo's clinical style is underpinned by compassion, curiosity, and a commitment to co-creating safe therapeutic spaces where clients can explore their experiences without judgment.

"I aim to help people explore their experiences and understand what has happened to them and what they have had to do to cope. Together, we work towards deeper self-understanding, self-acceptance, and finding ways to move forward in line with your personal values and goals."
Jo is particularly passionate about supporting neurodivergent individuals, understanding the unique challenges faced by those who may have been late-diagnosed or are seeking diagnosis. She provides a neuro-affirming space where differences are celebrated and individual strengths are recognised.

With her extensive background in neurodevelopmental psychology, Jo specialises in supporting neurodivergent individuals in ways that celebrate differences rather than pathologise them. Her work often focuses on identity exploration, self-understanding, and making sense of life experiences through a neurodivergent lens and interstanding the intersections of neurodivergence, mental and physical health so that her clients can create a wholistic and authentic understanding of themselves.

Therapy is collaborative and individually tailored, frequently addressing the emotional impact of late or missed diagnoses, internalised ableism, and the challenges of navigating systems not designed with neurodivergent people in mind. Jo works thoughtfully with clients around unmasking, managing overwhelm and burnout, and developing strategies that honour their authentic selves while building resilience and self-compassion.
