Introducing Post-Diagnostic/ Late-identifying Neurodivergence Support at True North Psychology

Dr Sara Tookey

31 Jul 2026

A new chapter of care, for what comes after diagnosis

We're excited to share one of the most meaningful additions to our service offering yet: psychologically informed post-diagnostic support, now available at True North Psychology.

A diagnosis of Autism, ADHD or AuDHD can bring relief, validation, and/or finally an explanation for a lifetime of experiences. But a diagnosis alone rarely answers the question that so often follows it:

"What do I do with this information now?"

That's exactly where our new post-diagnostic support begins.

Diagnosis Is a Beginning, Not an Endpoint

A diagnosis can provide an explanation, but it does not automatically provide understanding, integration, or a roadmap for you to move forward. This is where psychologically informed post-diagnostic support becomes invaluable.

Our approach goes beyond information alone. Grounded in established psychological knowledge and formulation-based understanding, it helps people explore how their neurodivergence, life experiences, relationships, environments, strengths and challenges have interacted over time, drawing on compassion-focused, acceptance-based, attachment-informed, trauma-informed, strengths-based, and neuroaffirming models.

This support is for:

  • Late-diagnosed adults, making sense of a lifetime of experiences through a new, more compassionate lens

  • Recently diagnosed adults, understanding what comes next and how to move forward with greater clarity

  • Anyone who self-identifies, because you do not need a formal diagnosis to benefit from neuroaffirming support

What This Support Looks Like

Post-diagnostic support at True North Psychology creates space to explore:

  • The role masking may have played in your life, and whether those adaptations still serve you

  • The connection between burnout, exhaustion, and years of sustained overwhelm, psychological and physiological

  • What you need to thrive, which environments support you best, and what boundaries protect your energy

  • A more compassionate, trusting relationship with yourself and your body's signals

This is not about fixing, changing, or overcoming who you are. It is about understanding who you have always been, and building a life that feels more aligned, sustainable, and authentically yours.

Welcoming Dr Jo Jennison to Lead the Service

As we launch this new chapter, we're delighted to announce that Dr Jo Jennison will be taking the lead role of our Neurodivergent Assessment and Support Service.

Jo brings clinical rigour, warmth, and a genuinely affirming approach to every client relationship, exactly the qualities this next stage of growth calls for.

"We couldn't be prouder to have Jo at the helm of this service," says Dr Sara Tookey, Founder and Clinical Director. "When Jo first reached out to us, it wasn't her 25+ years of NHS experience or her background as Consultant Psychological Lead for Neurodivergence that struck me most, though both are exceptional. It was that someone with her level of expertise could work anywhere, and she chose us because our values aligned with hers. Jo has spent her career showing up for people who experience the most inequality in accessing support, and that same dedication, compassion and integrity is exactly what this service needs as it grows. I know our clients are in the very best hands."

So Much to Come

We've already begun offering 1:1 post-diagnostic support for late-diagnosed and self-identifying neurodivergent adults. And there's more on the way.

Come autumn, we'll be launching:

  • A post-diagnostic support group, bringing together late-diagnosed and identifying neurodivergent adults in a shared, supportive space

  • Monthly neurodivergent support workshops, open to our wider community

A diagnosis is so often just the beginning of the story, not the end of it. We're building the support to match, with Jo leading the way.

More details on dates and how to join will follow as we approach autumn.

Ready to take the next step? Post-diagnostic support is available now for existing and new clients. Learn more at www.truenorth-psychology.com or email admin@truenorth-psychology.com
